Event Info:
In this exciting event, contestants race from the base of Aspen Mountain all the way to the top. They will climb 3,267 vertical feet – over 2.5 miles uphill and at night! Racers climb at their own pace using their own lighting and non-motorized equipment like Kahtoola Microspikes, climbing skins, or other gear. All physical abilities and ages are welcome to participate! When racers and supporters reach the summit, dinner will be provided by The Little Nell along with live music, a raffle with great prizes, and awards presented by liver recipient and Olympic Bronze Medalist Chris Klug. All participants will receive an amazing racer bag and top fundraisers and top racers will receive special prizes!

 

The registration fee for the event is $50 in advance with a minimum fundraising goal of $100. The registration fee will be increased to $75 for those who register on starting MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27th, so please be sure to register early! The course up the mountain starts at the base of the gondola, up the Little Nell trail, then goes on to Bingo Slot, Spar Gulch and Deer Park, and finally up Silver Bell to reach the Summit. Registration is not transferable.

 

In the event that you have registered and cannot participate your registration fee will be refunded up until November 20, however any funds that have been raised under your name cannot be refunded. Anyone who has registered for the race and does not raise the minimum $100 by December 18th will be charged the remaining funds. This applies to those who register and do not participate. These funds go directly to CKF’s programs promoting organ & tissue donation.

In the event of severe weather conditions the event may be rescheduled for the following day or cancelled entirely. As this event is a non-profit fundraiser, in the unlikely circumstance of a cancelled event the registration fee and any fundraising will be non-refundable. The Chris Klug Foundation appreciates your support and understanding. You can take your pick of registration categories. Keep reading to decide which one is the best fit for you!

What start time should I register for?

Recreational Racer if you anticipate taking longer than two hours to reach the top. Recreational Racers will start the race at 5:00 p.m.

Competitive Racer if you anticipate finishing in less than two hours and want to compete against other individuals for the fastest racer prize. Competitive racers will start at 6:00 p.m.

Recreational Team if you belong to a gym, company, or organization with members that want to take their time hiking to the top. Recreational Teams will start at 5:00 p.m.

Competitive Team if you belong to a gym, company, or organization with members that want to compete together as a group to be the fastest Summit for Life team to complete the race. Competitive Teams will start at 6:00 p.m.

Event Schedule:
Wine and Dine for Life: Aspen Summit for Life weekend begins with a fundraising dinner benefiting the Chris Klug Foundation. Join us for an celebratory dinner with Chris Klug and friends at a location to be determined. 12/8/2017

Yoga for Life : Start race day off right by getting stretched and ready. Join our friends at lululemon at 9:30am for a yoga class with other racers and supporters. A donation of $5 is suggested. 12/9/2017
Summit for Life: 5 pm Recreational Start & 6 pm Competitive Start. In this exciting event, racers climb 3,267 vertical feet – over 2.5 miles at night up Aspen Mountain. There will be a post-race lasagna dinner at the summit with live music, prize giveaways, & awards for top fundraisers & racers. 12/9/2017
Ride for Life: Skip the uphill hike and ride the Silver Queen Gondola straight to the summit! Enjoy dinner prepared by The Little Nell, live music, awards, and most importantly, cheer on the racers as they come through the finish line! 12/9/2017
Fees:
Each racer will have a registration fee of $50 (increases to $75 on 11/27/17) and a fundraising minimum of $100.
