Summit for Life raises awareness about organ and tissue donation through a unique event which emphasizes the fact that transplant recipients and living donors can lead healthy active lives.
Was this event called Storm the Stars?
For the past few years this event has been called Storm the Stars. This year signifies the third year that the event is under ownership of the Chris Klug Foundation.
Who does the race benefit?

How much of my donation goes to promoting organ and tissue donation education and awareness programs and how much goes to administrative costs?
We have extremely low overhead, so the majority of your contribution will go directly to funding education and programs.
Are pledges tax deductible?
Yes, all pledges are 100% tax deductible. A tax ID number will be provided to you after you make an online pledge.
When and where is registration?
On-site check in and registration will be at the Aspen Square Hotel located at 617 East Cooper Avenue, Aspen, Colorado. Registration will be held for three days.

- Thursday, December 4th - 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
- Friday, December 5th - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Saturday, December 1st
- Registration: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Timing chip pick-up: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Is Summit for Life a Race?
Some participants will treat Summit for Life as a race and others will take their time getting to the top. It’s up to the participant! The uphill is open to all ages and ability levels. The most important part of the event is your commitment to raising pledges for a great cause.
What time does the race start? New for 2008, there are now two different start times. The 5:00 PM Recreational Start is for climbers that anticipate taking longer than two hours to reach the top or for first-timers or hikers that want to take their time.
The 6:00 PM Competitive Start is for climbers that anticipate finishing in under two hours.
How much is it to register?
It’s only costs $40 required registration fee on or before Friday, December 5th and $50 the day of the race. By registering you are also committing to raise $160 in requested pledges, however, there is a minimum of $60 in pledges required. Every racer will receive an awesome goody bag.
Should I raise more than the minimum $60 in pledges?
Absolutely! Not only is it for a great cause, but there are great prizes for the top pledge racers.
Can I participate without hiking to the top of the mountain?
Yes, you have two options. You can "Summit for Life" by purchasing a ticket to ride the new Silver Queen gondola to the summit to cheer on the racers and enjoy dinner and a concert, or you can “participate” by staying in the warm comforts of your home and opting to be “Snowed In.”
What about lodging?
Special room rates are available to event participants at the Aspen Square Hotel. Contact the hotel at 1-800.862.7736 and ask for the Summit for Life room rate. Rates based upon availability, so make your reservation soon. You may also check into other lodging through StayAspenSnowmass.com.
How do I get there?
From Denver, take I-70 East towards Grand Junction. Exit at Glenwood Springs to take Hwy 82 East all the way into Aspen.
